How to refer for ARC-Grow

For CMOs and MRSSs

To our valued partners at the Care Management Organizations (CMO) and Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS),

Legacy Counseling has been a certified provider for the ARC Grow model for the past 7 years. As partners in the Children's System of Care, we know how important it is to have effective, targeted interventions for the families we serve. ARC Grow is a powerful tool, and we are excited to collaborate with you to deliver this service.

This post will give you a clear overview of the model, how you can talk to families about it, and the exact steps for making a referral for ARC-Grow.

What is ARC Grow?

ARC Grow is a specialized, caregiver-focused intervention. It is designed explicitly as a skill-building program for caregivers to help enhance resilient outcomes for families who are impacted by chronic adversity or stress.

It’s a structured, supportive program that includes key components:

    • - Structure: The model consists of 12 sessions with the caregiver(s).
    • - Timing: Sessions are typically 90 minutes long and can be implemented over 12 weeks or expanded over a more extended period to meet the family's needs.
    • - Content: This isn't just talk therapy. Each session is a mix of direct teaching, experiential learning, and activity-based skill practice.
    • - Key Topics: We focus on practical skills, including caregiver self-care, understanding the developmental impact of trauma, supporting a child's regulation, effective parenting practices, and strategies for building daily routines.

Talking to Families and Directing Them for Info

When you identify a family who could benefit, you can engage them in a conversation about the intervention's key components. You can explain it as a 12-session program designed to give them (the caregivers) new tools to manage stress, understand their child’s needs, and build stronger family routines.

How to direct families for more clarification:

We want to make this easy for you and the families you serve. If a caregiver wants to learn more about the program from their perspective, please direct them to our new Resource tab: (https://www.legacycounselingllc.net/resources/) on the Legacy Counseling website. We've designed it to be welcoming and answer their questions directly.

How to Make a Referral for ARC Grow

When a family wishes to participate, the referral process follows the standard CSOC guidelines you already use.

Here is a simple, step-by-step guide:

    1. Refer to Legacy Counseling: Refer the family to us, as an IIC provider agency trained in ARC Grow, through your standard referral and service request process.
    2. Document in CYBER: CMO or MRSS staff will document all relevant information about the identified need for ARC Grow in a progress note within CYBER.
    3. Create Service Request: Create an IIC service request on the family's Individualized Service Plan (ISP) or Individualized Crisis Plan (ICP).
    4. Use the Correct Codes: The service code used will be one of the following, depending on the assigned IIC staff's credentials:
      • - IIC Licensed Clinical: H0036TJU1
      • - IIC Masters Level: H0036TJU2

A Quick Note on Logistics

Because ARC Grow is a caregiver-focused approach, the family may need to plan for the youth's care during the 90-minute session to ensure the caregiver gets the maximum benefit.

As a helpful reminder, Behavioral Assistance (BA) services can be delivered to the youth at the same time an IIC session of ARC Grow is occurring with the caregiver. This just needs to be clinically indicated, planned by the CMO,  CFT or MRSS and family, and part of the pre-authorized plan of care.

We are committed to ensuring timely and coordinated service delivery and look forward to strengthening our partnership with you through this important new service.
